Development Project
In this course, you will be required to prepare and submit a project paper demonstrating an understanding of the course topics by examining the theory of operation of a C3 system and recommending changes to procedures or design to address an issue or issues. For this project you will need to perform the following:
· Discuss the perceived need of a new C3 subsystem as it relates to a current unmanned system application, management practice, or operational policy and the need for safety, efficiency, and effectiveness (why is it needed?).
· Identify innovative new technologies, methods, processes, or concepts relating to your perceived need.
· Provide a requirements specification associated with your perceived need (what it must be capable of, design imposed limits, etc.).
· Present possible C3 options for unmanned systems based on the operational environment and availability of new technology, methods, processes, or concepts.
· Discuss the appropriateness of considered elements/components to support the intended use, including the benefits, limitations, and constraints.
· Formulate a specific solution or research strategy to address the perceived need, including a theory of operation, any appropriate recommendations or conclusions, and supporting references.
· Utilize an appropriate research method and statistical analysis (if applicable) to obtain data and reference materials to support your work.
· Recommend future research strategies to better understand the issue and add to the collective body of knowledge associated with unmanned systems.
· Citation inside text.
Instructions (Feedback on the rough draft)
While you don’t need to address each of the performance metrics in the introduction/summary, you should broadly have language that can lead the reader to see these points below are going to be a part of this manuscript. This is not to mean you must devote an entire sentence or more to each point, but the essence of these points would come across in your language. I am seeing some of this come across. – Discuss the perceived need of a new C3 subsystem as it relates to a current unmanned system application, management practice, or operational policy and the need for safety, efficiency, and effectiveness (why is it needed?). – Identify innovative new technologies, methods, processes, or concepts relating to your perceived need. – Provide a requirements specification associated with your perceived need (what it must be capable of, design imposed limits, etc.). – Present possible C3 options for unmanned systems based on the operational environment and availability of new technology, methods, processes, or concepts. – Discuss the appropriateness of considered elements/components to support the intended use, including the benefits, limitations, and constraints.
For this assignment, you will submit the final draft of your Development Project containing the detailed information that is aligned with the parameters of the assignment (as identified in the rubric). You should review the instructions and ensure that your final draft covers all of the requisite information. With the revisable nature of this process, from the beginning, you should have applied changes or updates progressively through the conduct of this project. Projects that do not follow the guidelines, but focus instead on other important, but irrelevant UAS or manned aircraft issues will not grade well. The paper should have 20 pages of content, in addition to a title and reference page, use at least fifteen credible citations, and be prepared using APA 6th Edition standards. Writing should show college-level work. Do not forget the basics; spelling, grammar, and format.
Examine the rubric to identify the qualities of an effective research paper.
Criteria
This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeContext / Introduction
Paper provides an effective introduction and a research problem that is related to the field of aeronautical science. It presents strong relationships between factors with accurate real-world examples. It develops a coherent, central theme that is expressed in a well-structured, organized, and logically-consistent manner throughout the assignment.
Research
Paper provides a comprehensive identification and analysis of key issues related to the select research topic or research problem. It designs an effective course of action to solve the proposed research problem using multi-disciplinary principles, if appropriate. The evidence comes from a wide variety of valid sources. The bibliography is complete and reflects the appropriate sources.
Comprehension
Paper presents a well-supported argument based on relevant concepts and theories, providing new ideas related to the select research topic or research problem. Argument is logical and uses significant examples, evidence, research, and/or data from course content and from valid, external information sources throughout assignment.
Application
Decisions and conclusions are a result of analysis and synthesis of evidence. Formulates excellent resolution and recommendations. Conclusion includes possible consequences and outcome scenarios
Program Outcome
Evaluate and recommend the incorporation of new technologies, methods, processes, or concepts with current unmanned system applications, management practices, or operational policies.
