Transtheoretical Model (TTM)
This week we will examine the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) and the stages of change found in Chapter 7. There are often multiple theories involved in a change in one’s behavior and the Transtheoretical Model integrates many psychotherapy-based theories. Change in behavior is a result of a series of processes and occur over time. TTM identifies 6 major categories, or stages, of change which comprise its core constructs. These stages are: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination.
