This assignment provides the opportunity to find and appraise resources related to your PICOT question. The focus of this assignment is to evaluate pertinent literature that supports the practice change intervention. Note: You are to locate original studies with research conducted and published by the primary investigator. You may also use systematic reviews or Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
The picot question format to follow is as follows: Define each element of the PICOT. P-Population and problem (What is the nursing practice concern or problem and whom does it affect?) About 6.2 million adults are affected by heart failure in the USA. The main population that is affected by heart failure is the adult population. I–Intervention (What evidence-based solution for the problem would you like to apply?)There are several interventions that could be applied in this case. Nursing practitioners’ primary goal is to provide oxygen therapy, effective communication and education to patients with heart failure. C–Comparison (What is another solution for the problem? Note that this is typically the current practice, no intervention at all, or alternative solutions.) The most common practice of controlling heart failure is advocating for changes in lifestyles.O–Outcome (Very specifically, how will you know that the intervention worked? How you will measure the outcome?)To determine whether the interventions are successful in helping the patients, there should be improvements in patient compliance and a reduction in hospital unplanned readmissions.
