The purpose of this assignment is for candidates to utilize current research and practical publications from the field to inform professional practice as it relates to supporting PK-12 students’ academic and social/emotional learning during times of change.
Assignment Directions
Choose a book from the approved list that supports PK-12 students’ ability to thrive. Sign up for that book using the Assignment Sign Ups link on Blackboard. After signing up, purchase your book and read it.
Connect with others who have signed up for the same book to create your Literature Circle. As a group, you will set at least one synchronous session to discuss your reading of the book and your ideas. Each group member will bring a minimum of 2 higher- thinking discussion questions to the synchronous meeting. Candidates will submit their 2 questions to the dropbox on Blackboard, along with a one paragraph summary of the key points of the discussion and how the ideas shared will help inform the next steps of the project.
Each candidate will then write their own 5 – 6 page paper using the main points from the book to support PK-12 students. In addition, the paper will include recommendations on how to support students within the current context of education. The recommendations should be supported by at least three references. The paper should be written in APA format.
