Evidence-based Practice Description
One of the evidence-based practices common in public health today is child vaccination. The vaccination process follows strict guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, and other organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics. Child vaccination is a useful exercise that protects children from various health conditions such as tetanus, diphtheria, and polio (Stanford Children’s Health, 2019). Child vaccination also curbed child-child disease-spread; they-are administered between birth and six years.
Establishment of Interventions as Evidence-based in Public Health
The definition of EBPH involves developing, implementing, and evaluating programs plus different policies (Vanagas et al., 2017). Therefore, interventions that follow this direction would qualify as evidence-based. When evidence from scientific research forms part of public health to enhance a targeted population’s living standards, such qualifies as evidence-based. The decision process follows from the availed evidence through robust collected data that incorporates the community involved (Vanagas et al., 2017).
The Importance of the chosen Evidence-based Practice
As outlined in the first section of this discussion, child vaccination protects children from different health complications. Infants and other children are at risk because their immune systems are still weak at the time. Conditions such as polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and measles are common in young ones; thus, vaccination is vital in preserving their lives (Healthy People, 2020). In the past, research revealed the increased infant death rates and deformations due to the same diseases, which explains the significance of immunization amidst the young population up to six years of age.
